Primary Role
Performs a variety of tasks in supervising and participating in the locating, laying, repairing, and extending underground water mains and distribution pipes. Performs meter reading functions, customer service work, and the operation and maintenance of well stations, booster stations and tanks.
Schedule: Wed - Sun 8-4:30PM
Key Accountabilities
Sets up barricades and places safety lights around work site to protect workers from street traffic. Breaks up asphalt and concrete, using pneumatic power tools for trenching and compaction. Manually digs valve boxes and curb boxes, using shovel and digging bar. Guides pipe sections, valves and fittings into position and holds pieces steady while worker tightens connections. Taps into pressurized water mains. Flares and connects copper and plastic piping.
Installs repair clamps on pressurized water mains and service lines. Contacts PA One Call System for design, emergency, repairs or other related network operations. Investigates customer complaints and determine corrective action per company procedure. Completes all necessary forms, sketches and field notes. Updates company related materials on systems available.
Assists others on the installation of meters and use of meter reading equipment. Attends construction and planning meetings as needed. May oversee shipping and receiving of materials. Attend training classes as required. Oversees and coordinates developer projects in conjunction with the engineering department.
Operates valves and fire hydrants. Investigates complaints and determines corrective action per company procedure. Operates pneumatic and/or hydraulic boring equipment. Completes all necessary forms, sketches, field notes and uses maps and records. Drives vehicles and/or trucks in performance of general job. Directs the activities of any personnel assigned. Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor. Supports and assists activities as directed by the supervisor for Production/Transmission, Distribution and Customer Service activities. Locates and marks company facilities associated with the PA One Call System.
Knowledge / Skills
Mechanical ability sufficient to understand the operation of pumps, valves, motors and other mechanical equipment related to operations and maintenance.

GED/High School graduate with vocational preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of vocational education, apprentice training, on-the- job training, and/or in-plant training or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.
Work Environment
Work is in environmental conditions including contact with wastewater, chemicals, fumes, odors and dust as a result of working with handling potentially hazardous wastewater treatment and laboratory chemicals. Exposure to potentially harmful pathogens and gases in raw unprocessed wastewater creating potential for blood borne/airborne disease. Electrical hazard conditions. Exposure to inclement weather mostly of short duration.
Must be able to pass a D.O.T. physical examination.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
